North Lakes
St John's Beck near Thirlmere

The river of St John’s Beck flows out of Thirlmere and down the delightful St John’s in the Vale to the River Greta. It divides the many crags and knotts on the east of the vale with High Rigg – the small wooded fell that rises up in the middle of the vale. A walk around High Rigg can be made from here, which follows, for a good part of the way, the beck to the smaller Low Rigg and the quaint church of St John’s in the Vale.
