Cat Bells & Derwentwater

It is not long during the ‘ascent’ of Cat Bells before the views start to pan out in front of you, over the lake of Derwentwater. All four of her islands come into view, St Herbert’s Island being the closest. Newlands Valley can look in its splendour from here, especially during the long summer evenings when the sun pours over the top of Hindsgarth and Robinson – the two fells in the sun at the end of the valley.
