Western Lake District
St Bees - Fleswick Cove

The pink sandstone cliffs, which rise dramatically 400ft up from the coastline, were formed about 200 million years ago. They ascend from the beach at St Bees, and continue as far as Whitehaven passing the lighthouse on the most Westerly point of Cumbria – St Bees Head. This small bay, called Fleswick Cove, is only accessible by foot and is an ideal place to watch the many species of seabirds soaring high along the cliff edge.
