Western Lake District
Honister Pass

The imposing pass of Honister lies between the steep sided slopes of Dale Head to the north and Fleetwith Pike to the south. It connects the Borrowdale and Buttermere valleys; the latter of which lies at the far end of The Vale of Lorton. Fleetwith Pike, rising upwards from the other side of the pass, has been a commercially important fell over the centuries; its high quality Honister slate has been distributed all over the world.
