Cockermouth - Main Street

Cockermouth is a quaint market town, which lies just outside the Lake District National Park. Its wide tree-lined Main Street is dominated by the statue of the Earl of Mayo, once an MP for Cockermouth who was murdered in the Andaman Islands in 1872. There is a pleasant selection of shops, pubs and interesting courtyards to explore, which are almost hidden through alleyways from the Main Street of the town.
