Carlisle, Hadrian's Wall & Borderlands
Brampton town centre
This image is taken from the east side of the Market place. As the image pans round the Moot Hall (the octagonal building) comes into view, which has featured in the Market Place since around 1648, when Cromwell kept 40 prisoners in it. The town remains an important centre for the outlying rural areas.
